Therapy for the things that feel hard to say

Therapy Agreement & Terms of Service

This agreement outlines the professional boundaries and practical arrangements for our work together. It is designed to ensure a safe, clear, and consistent therapeutic environment.

1. Sessions and Commitment

Therapy sessions are usually held weekly at the same time and day. Each session lasts 50 minutes. Consistency is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I ask that you attend sessions regularly. If you are running late, I will wait in the room for the duration of the slot, but the session will still end at the scheduled time.

2. Fees and Payment

Fees are discussed and agreed upon during our initial consultation. Therapy sessions are £150. Payment should be made via bank transfer prior to or on the day of the session. Invoices can be provided upon request for insurance purposes or personal records.

3. Cancellations and Postponements

I operate a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel or postpone a session with less than 48 hours' notice, the full fee will be payable. This applies regardless of the reason for the cancellation, as the time has been specifically reserved for you. If I need to cancel a session, I will provide as much notice as possible and no fee will be charged.

4. Confidentiality and its Limits

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. I will not discuss you or the content of our sessions with anyone else, with the following exceptions: clinical supervision (as required by professional bodies), legal requirements (such as a court order), or if I have serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others. In such cases, I would always aim to discuss this with you first.

5. Contact Between Sessions

Contact outside of sessions is limited to administrative matters (e.g., changing appointments). I do not offer emergency or crisis support. If you find yourself in crisis, please contact your GP, call 111, or attend your nearest A&E department.

6. Social Media and Public Presence

To maintain professional boundaries and your privacy, I do not accept 'friend' or connection requests from current or former clients on personal social media platforms. My professional accounts are for information sharing only and do not replace therapeutic contact.

7. Ending Therapy

You have the right to end therapy at any time. However, I recommend that we have a planned ending phase (usually 1-2 sessions) to review our work and say goodbye properly. Endings are a significant part of therapy and deserve space to be processed.

By attending your first session, you are agreeing to the terms outlined above. A copy of this agreement can be provided to you upon request.
